The Audience Award “Zvezda Teatrala” (“Theater Star”) in the category” Best Performance in Russia directed by a director in Russia” was awarded to Theodoros Terzopoulos for Mauser by Heiner Müller, the grand premiere of last theatre season in Russia at the Alexandrinsky Theater, .

The International Theater Awards “Zvezda Teatrala” were established in 2008 by the theatrical magazine Teatral and are the only independent Russian theater awards, as they are based exclusively on the results of the audience voting. Spectators from 80 countries voted for this year’s 13th edition of the “Zvezda Teatrala” awards. The awards ceremony took place yesterday at the Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow and was broadcast online. The award consists of a valuable Pierot figure with a gold star in his hands (created by the famous Italian designer Fabrizio Smania) and a gold star-pin engraved with the name of the winner.
