In Terzopoulos’ theatre myth is not fairytale, it is condensed experience; the process of rehearsal is not the performance of a dramatic concept, it is an adventure on a journey to the landscape of memory, a search for the lost keys of unity between body and speech, the word as natural entity.

Heiner Muller, June 1987, Berlin

Attis Theatre was founded in 1985 in Delphi by Theodoros Terzopoulos. One of its elementary goals is the research upon ancient Greek tragedy and significant plays of international drama. Within 35 fruitful years Attis Theatre has presented 2.100 performances all over the world. It collaborates with international festivals and foreign theatres as a co-producer of multilingual and multicultural productions. It promotes Theodoros Terzopoulos’ acting method and it has organised 400 workshops and 50 theoretical conferences, most of them in conjunction with the most eminent drama academies. Books about Attis Theatre have been published and translated in many languages (Greek, English, German, Chinese, Turkish, Russian, Polish, Korean, Mandarin, Italian, French) and many articles and essays have been published in theatre and academic reviews. The ancient drama performances of Attis Theatre are considered to be exemplary and are being studied in drama academies and drama departments all over the world. Attis Theatre often hosts in its premises artistic exhibitions (Kounellis, Psichopaidis, Tziotis, Meimaroglou, Chrysikopoulos etc), poetry marathons and book presentations. Attis Theatre has two stages.
