Theodoros Terzopoulos directed Endgame by Samuel Beckett in Alexandrinsky Theatre in Moscow. The premiere was on March 21, 2014 and the performance was received with standing ovation. Theodoros Terzopoulos, invited by the artistic director of Alexandrinsky Theatre, Valery Fokin, inaugurated with this performance the project “New approaches to 20th century’s classical plays”. The emblematic play of S. Beckett is being presented to Saint Petersburg for the first time and it is interpreted by prominent Russian actors. Besides directing, Theodoros Terzopoulos has also designed the stage installation, the costumes and the lights. The original music composition is written by Panagiotis Velianitis, while Savvas Stroumpos is the assistant director.
The performance is already considered to be a radically new approach to Beckett’t work and will remain in Alexandrinsky’s theatre repertoire for seven years.
This is the second time that Theodoros Terzopoulos directs a new production in Saint Petersburg. Earlier, on 2006, he had directed Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, the opening performance of the renovated Alexandrinsky theatre, which also remained in its repertoire for seven years.

Endgame will open Alexandrinsky International Theatre Festival on October 7 and 8. Within the frames of the ferstival, Theodoros Terzopoulos will give a lecture and lead a workshop, with the collaboration of  the actor Antonis Myriagkos. The workshop is addressed to professional actors of Alexandrinsky Theatre and students of Saint Petersburg’s drama academy.
