PERM TCHAIKOVSKY OPERA AND BALLET THEATRE
The International Festival "Diaghilev Seasons" was established on 2003 in Perm, the home town of the world famous art critic, impresarium and founder of Russian Ballets, Sergei Diaghilev (1872-1929). The multigenre programme of the festival, which includes opera, theatre and ballet performances, music concerts, exhibitions, documentary projections, conferences, premieres and international participations reflects the multigenre activity of Diaghilev himself connected with arts: opera, ballet, theatre, fine arts, publishing. The festival Diaghilev Seasons is hosted at Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, one of the historical russian theatres (it was established on 1870) and centre of the music and theatre production of the country. Artistic director of the theatre is the international conductor Thodoris Kourentzis.
Attis Theatre participates in the festival Diaghilev Seasons with two performances, Iocasta and Desert and with a master class conducted by Theodoros Terzopoulos.

Iocasta by Jannis Kontraphouris, directed by T. Terzopoulos had its world premiere last automn in Moscow, while at the time is being presented in Attis theatre, in Athens. After Perm Iocasta will participate in more european festivals. The part of Iocasta is interpreted by Sophia Hill, while T. Terzopoulos also participates in the performance.
On August 2007, a while before his early death, Jannis Kontraphouris wrote in the hospital the play Iocasta. His wish was to be directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos. Attis Theatre with this performance honours the memory of the significant Greek playwriter.
«The play belongs to the tradition of many contemporary plays, that go back to the ancient greek myths to deal with heroic figures in a profound and inevitably anti-heroic era. With ruins and remains of memories, Iocasta constructs her own final nightmare and disturbs the order of a society based upon monstrous crimes.»

The monologue of Carlo Michelstaedter, directed by T. Terzopoulos and interpreted by Paolo Musio had its world premiere in Athens on 2007 and ever since it has participated in noumerous festivals in Italy, Russia, Greece, UK. Last automn in London Desert was highly praised by Michael Billington in Guardian(http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2011/oct/13/il-deserto-review).
"In the middle of the empty scene, an actor stands all alone; his body has turned into a multi-rythmic machine, confronted with the elementary natural powers, like gravity. In his eyes sparkles an unsearchable distance; his mind is lost in a space from where rise elusive images, fragments from stories, violent blasphemies, expressions of a desperate and clear voice, in the attempt to create the labyrinth in which he is being lost, in intense adventure of the thought".
