by Jannis Kontraphouris
last performances until May 20th
Attis Theatre continues the performances of Iocasta by Jannis Kontraphouris, directed by theodoros Terzopoulos until May 20th. Iocasta opened in Athens on February 14th, while the world premiere was given in Moscow last Fall. The performance has been already invited by international festivals. Iocasta is interpreted by Sophia Hill, while Theodoros Terzopoulos participates in the performance.
On August 2007, a while before his early death, Jannis Kontraphouris wrote in the hospital the play Iocasta. His wish was Iocasta to be directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos. Attis Theatre with this performance honors the memory of the significant Greek playwriter.
"The play belongs to the tradition of many contemporary plays, that go back to the ancient Greek myths to deal with heroic figures in a deeply and inevitably anti-heroic era. With ruins of words and remains of memories, Iocasta constructs her own final nightmare and disturbs the order of a society based upon monstrous crimes".
